March 14 was International Day of Mathematics. Edu-Coach was honoured to host a “Maths is Everywhere” event at the Edgemead Library (Cape Town). This was our last event before the National Lockdown so it was a special day for us.

On display were Maths related books in the library (both fiction and non-fiction) and posters depicting Maths in our lives. There were a number of activities to keep the children entertained e.g. Tangrams, Tessellation, Building Blocks and Maths Puzzles.

However, the highlight of the morning was the Scavenger Hunt. The children had to search for a list of items from the descriptions given. This tested their understanding of Maths terms and concepts.

It was a memorable day for us and for the children. For me, the excitement on the children’s faces as they wandered around ‘searching’ for the items was priceless.

Here are some comments from parents:

“Thank you. It was great fun.”

“Thank you very much; it would be nice to have this every weekend.”

“Thank you for the wonderful event. Maths is everywhere!”

“Thank you for an awesome initiative. We look forward to attending many more!”

“Thank you so much; we had fun and it helps kids to be critical thinkers.”
